Mark Ramprakash MBE

The man of 35,000 runs and 12,000,000 Strictly votes

Mark Ramprakash's life has been entirely dedicated to cricket since the age of 17, when he signed as a professional. Since then he's found fame playing for England, Middlesex and Surrey, and in 2006 he achieved a career-best score of 301 not out against Northamptonshire. In August 2008 he also became only the 25th player to score a Century of Centuries.

He is certainly one of the most talented batsman English cricket has ever seen and one of the most prolific batsman ever in domestic cricket however it remains a mystery to many as to why Ramprakash was unable to transfer his wonderful ability onto the International stage. Playing domestically in London for all of his career Mark Ramprakash represented Middlesex CCC and Surrey CCC.

Mark retired in 2012 with 114 First Class hundreds to his name and scored almost 35,000 runs at a staggering average of almost 55. In the 2013 New Year’s Honours List Mark Ramprakash was awarded an MBE for his services to Cricket and went on to be named the batting coach for Middlesex CCC, the first of many roles as a mentor and coach.

In the winter of 2006-07 he astonished team-mates and fans by taking part in and winning Strictly Come Dancing with 12 million votes cast.
